Back to the grind

One week ago from today I was getting on a plane. :-( Before heading to the airport, my parents and I had lunch at Panera. Only in Washington do you see this...

Coffee beans as an ashtray

What a good waste of coffee! Anyway, my flights back were perfectly fine. I really enjoyed watching this documentary I downloaded on iTunes called "Weight of the Nation." It's free to download - I'd highly recommend it. I finally got in past midnight, but of course wasn't entirely tired due to the time change... it took me forever to fall asleep. I hate adjusting from West Coast time to East Coast time.

I won't go into all of the details of my week, but I'll just say it was very hard to go back to work, hard to eat healthy (although I did a decent job on the whole), hard to find time to exercise, hard to get things done around the apartment because our apartment is a sauna (our air conditioning is not working). I always have a hard time adjusting back to "normal" life, and this time around really hasn't been any different. I'm excited to move, but I think this next month of living in a torn apart apartment will be challenging too. I need to win the lottery.

Moving on... things of note this last week...

The orchestra played downtown for the 4th of July, so once again I got to go to the VIP reception, which is always fun.

Babs and Sarah - it was so hot and humid

The next night the orchestra played after the baseball game. It was fun to see the "fun facts" I wrote at work projected on the jumbo screen throughout the game.

That's a big logo

The next morning (Saturday) I went to weigh in at Fleet Feet for the Tons of Fun Challenge. I've lost a little over 5 pounds in the first four weeks of the program. Most of that was honestly done while I was in Washington. I haven't managed to lose anything since being back. My goal is to lose enough by next Saturday that I make it into the "10k club" - you have to lose 6.2 pounds for that. It will be hard, but I hope I can do it!

Saturday night Sarah came over and made me dinner (yes you read that right lol). Then we headed out to play mini golf!!

Sarah the super golfer

We ended with a tied game... of course we both cheated too, haha. After that we went down to the lake and got ice cream cones. Sarah and I always go on the best dates. ;-)

Sunday was mostly spent at home. Andy and I went for a slow 4 mile run (with a few walk breaks mixed in). My knee did not feel very good later in the day. :-( I also managed to pack a little, but more impressively... I managed to go through some of my clothes and got rid of a lot of them - and I still have more to go through! It's a slow process, but I'm glad to have a reason to go through everything and get rid of stuff.

And now a new week has started. Coming up this week... 2 trips to summer camps for Job #1, a special outdoor zumba class (yay!), more packing, and most likely a gala on Saturday (it's Job #1's 90th anniversary). It should be a busy week so I'm sure it'll fly by. I'll try to update before the entire week gets past me this time.

Thanks for catching up on my first week back!
