Day 73

Yesterday I updated my blog while I was at job number one, so before you get today's update, I need to tell you all about the wonderful thing that happened at job number two last night.

Stop: Dad, if you are unaware of any purchases made last night you are to SKIP this paragraph and continue reading the next paragraph. Continue: An amazing woman called the front desk (my mother) and bought a gift card for her really cool daughter (me, duh) to use at the spa. Thanks Mom!!! I will now be arriving to DC nice and loose with perfectly polished fingers and will get to look forward to a much needed massage and pedicure when I return. :-) Thank you thank you thank you!

Welcome back Dad. So today was super busy. At job number one they made the official announcement about my promotion - that was pretty exciting, especially to receive so many "congratulations." Then I had to go to a 3 hour luncheon (3 hours??), but the food was delicious and the speech was really engaging - it made me think about how the skills I developed practicing my saxophone and performing concerts could be transferred to running. Once that wrapped up in was back to the office for a meeting (barf).

After job number one I had a meeting for job number two, but there was a tiny window of free time in between. Luckily Katie and I play by our own rules, so we ran 6 miles plus 6 strides together before going to the meeting. Picture this... we walk into the meeting 45 minutes late, decked out in workout gear, sweat dripping off our face... and our boss asked, "Did you get stuck in traffic?" My reply: "Yep." Hahahaha. Priceless.

Our run was great! I didn't feel amazing starting out - I think it's always harder to run later in the day than first thing in the morning - but eventually I got into the swing of things. We didn't map a route, just randomly ran all over the place... we talked the whole time... I wasn't even paying attention to our pace so I was pretty surprised to find out how fast we were going and still maintaining an easy conversation.

6 miles - no breaks - 9:32 pace!

The 6 strides afterwards went well too! They are tough in the moment, but I still felt strong. My watch couldn't handle my cheetah speed during the strides, and once again kept beeping "Lap Error" at me. We actually ended up doing a total of 6.29 miles... not sure why the watch can't handle the sudden change in speed, but as long as I get them done, it doesn't matter!

Running rest day tomorrow!

Total Miles Run: 237.41
Total Weight Change: -4.6
